We’re nominated!!

It’s no surprise to anyone that the staff of a non profit organization primarily work there for the love of the cause! SUN ‘n FUN’s staff are the epitome of loving our jobs and the aviation community.  The icing on the cake for us is recognition, mainly because it means that the awareness about what we do has reached another group of people.  Today’s recognition is extra special because last year our organization made the decision to bring in a full time staff member to promote our facility on a year round basis for events of all types.

The kickoff to our expansion was a party for Occasions Magazine in the fall. See the challenge around here is that we have SO many buildings that serve as a great venue for any event, its hard for us to contain our energy and condense the choices for a client.  For this event, we invited people in the events community to spread the awareness about our new year round mission.  Our facility rentals help fund aviation education and scholarships so we had to start off with a bang!

It was an amazing evening of wow and transformation, showing 2 spaces on our property and specifically showing someone how we could transform our hangar in completely different ways for any event.  A more detailed blog post specifically on this event will follow with a full acc0unt of each special touch put into the evening.

BUT…let’s put the cart before the horse on this one since we can’t contain our excitement any longer!  We are nominated nationally for “2012 Best Event Production of the Year” by the National Association of Catering Executives (www.nace.net).  We will find out at the national Experience Conference in Chicago, IL this July.  Fingers crossed for bringing home the prize and solidifying our expansion into producing world class events on a YEAR round basis in addition to our annual fly-in.
