Inspiration come to life!

The amazing team at Limelight Photography came out to SUN ‘n FUN in January for a day full of creativity and inspiration! They invited two of their wedding couples to come model for them while they had a “shoot out” (a photo shoot marathon with multiple photographers trying to capture the best shot with the same surroundings).

We had a photograph in our inspiration album that we were really wanting to recreate here and they blew our expectations out of the water! This photo is now one of our favorites and on the landing page of the new venue rental section on the website.  The inspiration photo from is on top and the version done on our property is on the bottom! Amazing what happens when you get a group of professionals together and throw them some ideas to run with.

Event ideas with aviation inspiration

Two of our staff members actually have sisters that are pregnant and this morning we were talking about ideas for their baby showers.  Once you get our staff brainstorming, the ideas just take off (no pun intended).  So today’s post is all things baby.  The greatest thing about hosting an event at SUN ‘n FUN is our variety of spaces available AND at a great price due to the fact that we are a 501(c) 3.  Not only do you get a great venue but you are also making a contribution to aviation education!

On that note, we just booked a baby shower here at the Cessna Building for the end of June.  She is having a baby boy and decided on an aviation theme. When we first spoke with her, she said she imagined a room with an area in front of the building with grass for the kids to run around overlooking an airport so the guests could watch airplanes land during the event.  Our Cessna Building was the perfect spot!  In the name of inspiration, here are some of our favorite aviation baby shower ideas. Republic Services Safety Banquet – FAM Pavilion – April 21, 2013

We absolutely loved hosting the Republic Services Safety Banquet which took place just two weeks after our fly-in this year.  It was amazing to see this company show their employees how much they appreciate their hard work and reward them for the accomplishments over the year AND include their families.

Not only were they a pleasure to work with through the process but so were the people the day of their event.  We had a great time on this beautiful Sunday afternoon watching them enjoy caricature artists, face painting, bounce houses, a dunk tank, a video game truck, air hockey, a pool table, corn hole, a live DJ, cotton candy, sno cones, popcorn, food, drinks and more!

We want to give a special thanks to Megan Hurley, our fantastic intern who will be missed in a big way around here!  She was crucial in pulling this one together.

Trevor and Jordan’s Wedding – Florida Air Museum – March 29, 2013

Trevor and Jordan were such a cute couple! The first wedding of 2013 here at the Florida Air Museum. Their theme was a mix between travel and aviation with romantic vintage touches.  The bride and her family got really creative and went all out with the theme. The centerpieces were all different and an eclectic grouping of different vintage items the bride collected through the process. One of the most special things was the table they had setup as guests entered with important antiques, pictures and items from their family and grandparents. Trevor and Jordan danced their first dance as husband and wife under and up-lit parachute we suspended from the ceiling. We utilized authentic briefing room chairs from an aircraft carrier to create vignettes of seating for the guests to enjoy around the dance floor and strung cafe lighting from the landing gear on the aircraft hanging from the ceiling of the museum.

The grooms favorite airplane in our museum collection was a yellow Cub airplane so we decided to use it as a centerpiece for the buffet setup and staged the tables around the wings to make it stand out. They exited the wedding with everyone throwing paper airplanes and everyone left with a customized jar of honey as a favor.

Here are some of our favorite pictures from their wedding day…
